These things are amazing for the couple of bucks they cost. They came well-packaged and even come in a nice little sunglass bag! I really thought the presentation was like that of a $50 pair of name-brand sunglasses. The frames are really thin, but that only eccentuates the very large aviator lenses. And even though they are thin, they are plenty sturdy. I'm sure it doesn't take a strongmen competition guy to bend them but what sunglasses do?
As for the mirror surface, it's completely subjective. I personally thought they were very mirrory but I can understand people thinking they are smoky. Here's the thing - think about a 2-way mirror at a department store (or in a detainment room if you've been in one), it's a bit smoky and so clearly not a true mirror either and that's just kind of how it goes. The only way you can get true mirror surfaces are if no light passes through the lens, rendering them useless as something you want to see through let alone cover your eyes with, unless you happen to be blind already. That said, they came damn close to getting a true mirror. You will be able to tell because of how dark everything looks with them on, even in bright sun-light.
Great for people watching (wink wink, say no more) and I highly recommend them. I should mention, you might not want to buy these unless you are buying something that's just short of qualifying for super-saver shipping. I bought something else and this brought me to the $30 limit which means they literally paid for themselves.
